Barcelona Ready to Sell £35m Midfielder Cesc Fabregas Back to Arsenal This Summer
Nou Camp side open to selling Spaniard back to Emirates Stadium side.
Barcelona are reportedly ready to consider offers for Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas according to the Daily Star and Arsenal are said to be on ‘red alert’ and are ready to make a move for their former skipper if he is made available this summer.
Fabregas could be sacrificed as part of a Nou Camp rebuilding process and speculation is rife that the 25 year old may be ready to return to North London.
The midfielder is apparently keen to bring up his daughter Lia in England and is said to be trying to purchase a flat worth £5.4m in London, potentially leaving the door open to a Gunners return.
Cesc Fabregas returned to Barcelona after an eight year spell at Arsenal and has made 74 starts, as well as 17 appearances from the bench, scoring 28 goals in the process.
Ter Stegen backed for Barca move
Barca playmaker Xavi Hernandez told reporters after training at their Ciutat Esportiva training ground on Wednesday that Valdes would be missed, but he was sure sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and coach Tito Vilanova would choose a suitable replacement.
“Victor’s situation is a pity, but it is his decision,” Xavi said. “He is a ten as a player and as a person. I know he does not want to renew and that is clear. We will miss him, but hopefully whoever comes in will be at the same level.”
Villarreal ask for Bartra
Villarreal ask for Bartra
Barcelona’s search for a central defender could mean youngster Marc Bartra may be forced to seek first team football elsewhere.
The 22-year-old right made just eight La Liga appearances last term and in all probability will see his chances of making Tata Martino’s starting line-up drastically reduced should the Catalans be successful in their quest.
Aware of this, several clubs have asked about the right-back’s availability, in particular newly-promoted Villarreal.
According to Radio Castellon, the Yellow Submarine have already been in contact with Barca to enquire about the chances of taking Bartra on loan with an option to buy at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.
Although Martino is still assessing his squad during pre-season, he could look favourably on one of the club’s most promising youngsters to gain some much-needed top-flight experience next term.
