Barcelona reject Napoli bid for Javier Mascherano

Barcelona has officially rejected a move from Italian club Napoli for Argentine defender Javier Mascherano, who the manager pegs as an important player in the current squad.


Napoli manager Rafa Benitez has undergone a spending spree this summer but is still looking to strengthen the squad’s defense and thus turned to Barcelona man Javier Mascherano.
It was reported by Gazetto dello Sport that the Italian club had made a formal bid for the Argentine defender but it the exactly fee proposed is not known.
However, according to Italian reports Barcelona has officially rejected the offer for Mascherano who manager Tata Martino sees as a very important player in the Catalan squad.
With Barcelona yet to sign a defender in the current transfer window it is believed that Mascherano will compete for a starting role at the Catalan club.
